Earthquake engineering design involves the analysis and design of structures to resist earthquake effects to a certain level of probability of occurrence. The methods of earthquake engineering analysis include: –

 

  • equivalent static load method
  • multi-modal response spectrum analysis
  • performance based transient dynamic analysis

 

Earthquake Engineering – Multi-Modal Response Spectrum Analysis

Ampang Line LRT Extension Project showing the building dynamics for earthquake engineering analysis and design. A peak ground acceleration of 0.075g was adopted in relation to the UBC 97. The station structures were dynamically designed using a multi-modal response spectrum analysis to resist low-level seismicity as required for significant public facilities. Note project is a previous principal work experience at HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd.
