Most PC Blade Servers are left on for 24 hours a day, making energy-efficient design and power management features important for saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. That is the idea behind our newest CB1100 Atom energy saving series of PC Blade servers.

What is a PC Blade?

A PC Blade is a self-contained server, which collectively fits into an enclosure with other PC Blades. Some times known as a carrier, the enclosure (or carrier) performs many of the non-core computing services found in most computers. Non-blade systems require bulky, hot and space-inefficient components, and may duplicate these across many servers that may or may not perform at capacity. By locating these services in one place and sharing them between the blade servers, the overall utilization becomes more efficient. The PC blade servers themselves contain the core processor, memory, storage and power unit. We refer to the entire packages as a PC Blade System.

CB1100 PC Blade system is design around the newest Intel Atom processor based on the 45 nm processor core. The new processor core design enables the CB1100 PC Blade server to achieve less than 30 watts of power consumption per blade. The reduction in electricity usage and air condition cooling from the CB1100 PC Blade system translate into lowered energy bill. For example, if you plan to deploy ten (10) CM68C2 1U servers with Celeron processor. The total energy consumption is about 980 Watts. If you replace the entire CM68C2 1U servers with the CB1100 Atom PC Blade server, the total energy consumption is less than 340 watts. With CB1100 Atom PC Blade, you can reduce your energy consumption by 65% or more. That translates into 65% of saving on your electric bill.

In addition, CB1100 PC Blade system can save you 20% in the rack space compares to standard 1U rackmount servers. For example if you deploy fifty 1U servers to your data center. Typically you will need at lease two 47U cabinets to fit them. If you deploy with CB1100 PC Blade system, you will only need one 47U cabinets to achieve the same result. Do more with less is another advantage of using CB1100 PC Blade system.
