SD250
offers you the flexibility to expend your existing
hard drive capacity without sacrificing your CD-ROM
drive. Our standard CM61, CM62 and
CM63 1U rackmount system only have space for one
3.5” hard
drive and one 5.25” drive bay for the CD-ROM reader. If you
want to add hard drive for additional capacity, there
is simply no more space available. You could replace
the CD-ROM with a removable
drive bay for additional hard drive but you will
loose your CD-ROM drive. Loosing CD-ROM creates inconvenience
for operating system
as well as new software application installation.
SD250 is the solution which will let you add additional hard drive
space and keep your CD-ROM reader at the same time. SD250 combines
the compactness of notebook CD-ROM reader with a 3.5” SATA
hard drive in a 5.25” drive bay space. You don’t need
a special tool to install SD250. It simply fits into any standard
5.25” drive bay. SD250 requires one floppy drive 4 pin mini
power connector and one regular 4 pin IDE hard drive power connector.
Now you can add larger hard drive such as Seagate’s 320GB,
400GB, 500GB or even 750GB as application drive or even a backup
drive. In addition, you can also use SD250 with CM64 and CM65 to
create a RAID 5 storage system. Since CM64 and CM65 only come with
two 3.5” drive bay, you can only create a RAID 1 mirror setup.
If you want to setup a RAID 5 configuration, you will need one additional
drive. SD250 gives the option to add the third drive required for
RAID 5 setup.
The diagram on the top shows 3.5” SATA hard drive (A)
mounted on a drive cage (B) fits into a special drive
bay (D) with a notebook CD-Rom (C) on top. The vent
holes on the front of the drive cage
help to cool the hard drive.
