CM66E 1U Rackmount system offers many advantages over the traditional 1U ATX design. Better thermal management and higher processor and I/O throughput are some of the key advantages.

THERMAL Thermal issue is one of the major causes leading to CPU performance degrade and hardware failure. As processor runs faster, so does the amount of heat it gives off. Most of the off-the-shelf 1U systems are not designed to handle that much of heat. The result is more frequent hardware failures. In addition, overheat triggers CPU throttling feature to kick in. CPU throttling is a function which protects overheated processors from being burn out. As the clock frequency of the processors goes down, so does the system performance. Only brand name 1U systems are design to handle the additional heat. However, their design depends on proprietary motherboard design. This makes them quite expensive.

CM66E is your answer to a dependable and affordable 1U server platform. Our design philosophy is simple. We keep the system cool to reduce the hardware failure. As you can see from the diagram, the cooler air is moving in though several of the air vents on the side of the chassis. As the cooler air passes though the processor heat exchanger, hot air is forced out to the rear. Thus processor is keep at or below 65 (C) degrees during full stress condition.

Our goal is to offer our customers the most reliable systems at an affordable pricing.

EXPENDIABLE DRIVE BAY CM66 has a scaleable and flexible storage system. One drive configuration is a typical setup for most applications. It is easy and simple to setup. The only drawback is lack of performance during large amount of user data request. Two drive configurations on the other hand can help to improve system performance. Typically one drive is setup as master boot drive for operating system and application while the second drive is setup for date access such as mail server, web server for SQL database servers. If you want to create redundancy for your data, you can setup a RAID 1 configuration either though software or hardware RAID (Optional) with two hard drives.

In addition, each drive bay can have optional SATA hard drive backplane installed. SATA backplane reduces hard drive installation time.

We also offer an optional drive cage system to expend its storage capacity. You can purchase a SD250 drive cage with notebook cd-rom installed. SD250 provides CM66 with additional storage capacity when you needed it.

CABINET COMPATIBILITY There are many different sizes of open frame racks and cabinets ranging from 13U to 47U in size to choose from. CM66B is designed to work with any rackmount cabinets comply with the EIA-310-D standard. You can use either square nuts or tap-hole screws for installation (cabinet screws are not included). On the left, the picture shows 10 CM66E 1U servers installed in a 12U IBM Cabinet. You can install up to 47 CM66 1u servers in a standard 47U cabinet. CM66B comes with standard front mount L brackets. It can be used as a center mount bracket as well. You will need to use a rear mount brackets (sold separately) if you have a 4 post open frame rack or cabinet. You can also purchase a pair of SR02-GD24 sliding rails to further simplify your installation process.

PCI RISER CARD PCI Riser card or PCI Express Riser card is an optional item. You can use the 32 PCI slot to add additional features for your CM66E 1U rackmount system such as multiple high speed network ports, fiber optical network, SCSI Controller or A/D or D/A card for testing and measurement. The 32 bit PCI riser only works with a standard 5V PCI addon card. You can purchase the PCI Riser Kit as an optional item.

SLIDING RAILS SR02-GD24 Sliding rail is a simple tool which allows you to take out your CM66E without using a screw driver. A typical rackmount system installation is a two person job which requires 10 to 20 minutes to complete. Removing the 1U server also requires the same amount of efforts. Sliding rail (Q) changes all of that. With a sliding rails installed into the cabinet, you only need 2 minutes to install or remove the 1U server. Best of the all, it is a one person job. Sliding rail makes your job simpler and easier. SR024-GD24 sliding rail only support 4 post cabinet or rack (P) as demonstrated on the right.
